From The East
Greetings from the East, Brothers here it is September and I find
myself wondering where did the year go so fast.
Last month we sent out a new
Trestleboard, it had a completely different look than that we
have been used to and I would like to thank the
brethren who were responsible for
it Brother George "Don" Walburn
Senior Deacon and Brother Bill "4 pound"
Darden Junior Deacon. They worked very hard on this and I
think it showed. I also heard that some of our brethren had not
received their copy. I asked our Secretary and he assured me that
they were mailed so for those who did not receive a copy please
accept my apologies.
On August 19th we raised 3 new Master Masons, Brother Danny
Varner, Brother Harold Younger
Jr. and Brother Grady Linder
McGrahee. So the next time you
are at lodge make a special effort to meet and introduce yourself to
these new Brethren and make them feel
welcome.
Also on August 28th we had the District
Deputy Grand Masters official visit to our lodge. We had a very
good turn out although it was kind of warm for awhile. I would like
thank all our brethren who attended lodge this night and also say it
is always a pleasure to have R.W. Terry Parker D.D.G.M. and his
committeemen visit our lodge.
Sunday, September 17th is the Masonic
Home Board of Directors meeting in St. Petersburg, any Florida
Master Mason and their lady are welcome to attend. On this note we
are accepting donations for Corky's
Cupboard at the lodge. More information and a list of items needed
are available at the lodge.
On Monday, September 25th (our second
meeting) we are going to have some very special visitors attending
lodge with us, this will be Brother David A.
Yarborough 32 K.C.C.H. He is the
General Secretary of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of
Freemasonary, Valley of
Jacksonville, Orient of Florida. He will also have additional
Brethren with him from the K.S.A. so please plan to attend and join
me in giving these Brethren a warm
Palatka 34 welcome. This will be a tiled meeting.
The 13th District Masonic Association
(Masters & Wardens) will hold it's September meeting on Wednesday,
September 27th at
Cabul Lodge in Green Cove
Springs. We will meet at Palatka
34 at 5:00pm and leave at 5;30pm, please plan to attend.
Remember
the Grand Masters Homecoming is Saturday, October 7th at Morocco
Shrine Center in Jacksonville. Registration is at 5:00pm, please
plan to attend if you are able. It would great if we could be well
represented since Most Worshipful Robert Trump is from the 13th
Masonic District and from Palatka.
October 23rd is Widows night.
Another date that is a little way
down the road is November 18th on
this date (a Saturday) we will be giving the Master Mason 1-2-3
exam, this will be at Palatka 34,
this is a joint effort between Hastings Lodge and
Palatka 34. The exam is open to
ALL Master Masons registration will be at 9:00am but it is my
understanding that we will have breakfast earlier with W. Richard
Gray Worshipful Master of Hastings providing the fresh farm eggs. I
would like to see as many as possible to attend for more information
contact me or Tommy Edwards. See you in Lodge
